RCD offers a full range of RFID tag solutions — from
antenna design and manufacturing to inlay production and finished
products. This means we are uniquely positioned to address the specialized
tag requirements of our customers' RFID applications. Customer
requests often result in the design of custom label shapes and sizes,
and development of new features that address issues pertaining
to security, read distance, tuning, and adhesion.
Some examples of the specialized tag solutions developed
for customers include:
- A customer had a requirement for RFID tags that were to
be affixed to a very specific space on a piece of machinery.
The tag needed to fit exactly within the allotted space,
and perform flawlessly. RCD designed and produced tags to
fit the space requirements while also addressing read distance
issues.
- To address security issues, one customer requested that
its labels be designed so they would be rendered useless
upon removal. RCD's design team developed a proprietary
solution that effectively deactivates the tag when someone
attempts to remove the label. This innovative yet simple
security solution, branded as RCDSecure, has since been
employed in other designs where removal must render the
tag useless.
- In a very unique application, a customer turned to RCD
to design and produce tags to be attached to a spherical
surface. The resulting labels laid flat on the sphere while
meeting specific tuning requirements within the limited
designated space.
- When “off-the-shelf” tags failed to provide
the read distance and adhesion necessary for a specialized
windshield application, another customer enlisted RCD to
develop tags with appropriate adhesion and special tuning
to overcome read distance issues posed by the windshield.
- For a label that had to be extremely thin, RCD developed
a tag where the antenna was placed directly on the label
material — eliminating the usual inlay layer and meeting
the customer's specifications.
- Traditional wristband inlays require the wearer to position
the wristband precisely in line with the reader. Based on
a customer request, RCD designed and produced an RFID wristband
that could be read on an individual's wrist — regardless
of orientation. This user-friendly and highly effective
solution negates the need for awkward positioning of the
wristband to the reader.
- When a customer needed a prelam for a key fob application
requiring a specific chip compressed into an exact shape
and geometry on very short notice, RCD accommodated and
produced the completed product design and samples within
the two week deadline.

Tag Solutions.
Innovative wristband design.
This very unique design is built into the wristband and
makes security simple and lightweight. Both tamper-evident
and flexible, it solves a variety of needs. By placing the
antennae right on the wristband we were able to use two
layers, instead of three, to produce this extra-thin wristband.
